This is a series I created in response to a bike accident I had.

Continuing my work in self-portraiture, I chose to explore the manipulation of my body due to the accident, in relationship to the attraction/repulsion duality. I had my mouth ripped open during the fall, and lost teeth. I went for two months without replacement teeth, photographing my body, healing, looking at the changing soft flesh over time. Creating photo collages using online images of crystals, in addition to my own imagery, I wanted to challenge cultural notions of identity projection and beauty by putting presumably "ugly" images of my body onto various social media sites such as Facebook, Instagram, and Pinterest.
